What our Athletes are saying...

"I have run competitively for a decade; however, my initial foray into triathlon brought only mediocre results. I needed help. Oh baby, did I need help. Mike developed a personalized schedule geared specifically to my agenda. The training regimen that Mike set up challenged me and was a key factor in a successful Ironman Coeur d’Alene. More importantly, Mike offered something beyond a simple workout schedule. He offered me insight into my training. He took the time to explain to me why a particular workout is valuable and what I could do to increase its benefit. He answered all of my questions (even the embarrassing, newbie questions) quickly, professionally and in a clear and concise manner. Mike helped me with everything from equipment issues to race day strategies. Mike Ricci and D3 Multisport exceeded my expectations in every way.

"2003 really began with a DNF at my last race of 2002. After that race, and having been involved in triathlon for a few years, I decided I wanted a lot more out of triathlon than my current performance was giving me. Coach Mike and I had a few meetings and soon I was on my way to getting more out of the sport and myself.
"Coach Mike helped me in many ways, too many to list in fact. The 2003 season in short was full of fun training, hard training, successful racing, hard racing, and lots of learning. Coach Mike created a year long program that worked with what I wanted out of the sport and from myself.
"I raced NINE multi-sport events in 2003 and consider the season a major success thanks to Coach Mike, and my hard work of course. Working with Coach Mike alone won't get you to your goals, it takes hard-smart work!
"I believe the programs supplied by D3 and Coach Mike work, and that is why I am working with them again in 2004."

    "What makes a good coach???
"That was the question I was asking myself while searching for a triathlon coach. Having been a coach in a prior life, I knew there were a couple credentials that make a coach successful. Mike not only possess these qualities, but takes them many steps beyond, and in my opinion is one of the best coaches I’ve ever encountered. Probably one of Mike’s strongest qualities is his ability to communicate. Mike has many different types of athletes that he trains, yet has an outstanding ability to communicate to each of them differently to maintain their individuality. Some how, each of us feels as though he is our own personalized coach, through his constant support, communication, along with his desire and dedication for each of us to become successful.
"Mike will assist to determine your goals and accomplishments. Then he will explain each step of the training/process and its purpose in attaining those goals. Understanding your path is as important as picking it.
"I have been with Mike for only one year. Though I have only worked with him for a short time, I entrust all of my training to him, which allows me to concentrate and produce quality workouts.
"I respect Mike not only as a coach, but as a partner in my triathlon career. His support, knowledge, and experience will allow you to cross any finish line you desire."

"As a competitive triathlete you always want to be doing what it takes to achieve your best performance. A combination of good nutrition, a solid training program, and good mental strength skills are essential to peak performance. However, to obtain enough experience to figure out what is necessary to achieve your best takes many seasons. This is where Mike is invaluable. Mike is an incredible student of the sport, always trying to learn more and absorb as much knowledge as possible about triathlon. He has built a knowledge base by competing and coaching in the sport for sixteen years. Combining his personal experience and his quest for knowledge Mike is a coach you definitely want on your side. Mike has really taught me what it takes to be a top competitor in the sport and what it takes to get there. His methods are proven and his philosophy sound. If you ready to see how good you can be, you can bet Mike will take you there."

"I began working with D3 and Mike Ricci during the Month of October 2002. Mike emphasized right away the importance of training within in the proper heart rate zones to avert injury and ensure enough rest in between power and strength workouts. We spent several months base building- “building the cardio tank” and weightlifting and focusing on core strength. Not only did I feel like my workouts were structured but I felt like Mike was optimizing my time training. I only committed 1.5-2 hours a day, usually a workout in the morning and some weight training after work, although every once and awhile Mike would throw in a leisurely four hour bike/run on the weekend.
"We spent several months up until my first duathlon in late April working on intensity and cadence. We continued the weight training and core strength building, and worked hard on pacing. I didn’t realize until I started working with Mike how important a good warm up is, and I certainly didn’t realize that the first mile or so of a race should be the slowest and the last mile or so should be the fastest. I was always out of the gates fast with little left at the end, invariably getting past by several runners during the last part of the race. Now, I feel like I’m a smarter runner, and find myself doing the passing instead of getting past. I’m proud to say that due to Mike Ricci and D3, that I’ve placed in the top three of my age group for most of the duathlons that I competed in this season, and I look forward to a promising 2004.
"Thanks Mike and D3, and I look forward to working with you during the coming months."
