Opening Thoughts

The purpose of this e-letter is two-fold. First I would like to share information on training/racing techniques that I have developed in my fifteen years of racing/coaching. If you think there is something valuable in here that others could use, please pass it on. If there is something that you would like to see in here, send me an email. I have developed a large network of great resources and I if I don't have the answer, I will know someone who does. Secondly, this e-letter will be my personal space to brag about the athletes I coach and give them the praise they deserve--after all--it's the athlete that does the hard work.
    Train Smart,
    Coach Mike

D3 Multisport Adds Coach Mark Sunderland

Boulder, Colo. – 30 April 2006 – D3 Multisport, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Coach Mark Sunderland for the 2006 season:

Mark aka ‘Sundy’ is a USAT Certified Level I coach. He has been involved in coaching athletes over the last five years. Mark is always looking for the next adventure and spends his "free" time mountain running, cycling, a volunteer at many area events, and really anything that involves the outdoors. He has a wonderful family that includes two boys – age four and two. Mark understands the time constraints involved with having a family, working full time, and training. This is why he believes strongly that you must always enjoy what you are doing in your "spare" time. Sundy’s constant positive attitude while Mark@d3multisport.com.

Musings of an Ironman Athlete
I've realized something important about the mental game in ironman. It seems very cliche when I try to explain it to others but here's the gist: Being in very good shape for endurance sports doesn't feel like much. You go about your day to day life and feel (more or less) just like you did before.
