Opening Thoughts

The purpose of this e-letter is two-fold. First I would like to share information on training/racing techniques that I have developed in my fifteen years of racing/coaching. If you think there is something valuable in here that others could use, please pass it on. If there is something that you would like to see in here, send me an email. I have developed a large network of great resources and I if I don’t have the answer, I will know someone who does.  Secondly, this e-letter will be my personal space to brag about the athletes I coach and give them the praise they deserve—after all—it’s the athlete that does the hard work.

Train Smart, Coach Mike

D3 Athletes in the News
Once again the D3 Crew had some solid racing this month. Cathy Ruf – just missed out on the win at short course tri at Wildflower by 22 seconds – almost Cath! Next time! Steve Halvorson followed up a strong showing at World’s Toughest with an impressive race at the Spring Chill where he was 2nd in his AG. Joey G ran to a 3rd place overall at the Spring Chill. Sean Truchard survived the heat at Wildflower to race to a 5:41. Steve Bouey also did well at Wildflower coming in at 5:39. Other racers at Wildflower included Team Hawes, Grant and Taylor along with Jen Hardy and Chip Fuller. Bob Murphy also beat his goal time at the Spring Chill and his season is off to a great start. The D3 relay team also took top honors at the Spring Chill. Shelley Brown raced very well at the Pueblo Sprint. Tim Sells competed at St. Croix and finished on a very tough day – pretty good for a guy who works 80+ hours per week. Great job everyone! Keep up the good work.
