D3 Training Camp in AZ
A group of D3 Athletes hit the Tucson desert for a week long spring training camp. The days were full of camaraderie and sun filled endurance training.
On Sunday we arrived, put our bikes together and did a short scout out of the area for an hour, then hopped off the bike and ran a quick 30 minute run. Monday was a solid swim at the Udall center, followed by a 3 hour bike ride out the Old Soldier Trail, and then a quick 20 minute run. Tuesday was sub-threshold work on the bike, followed by sub-threshold work on the run alternating half and full ironman pacing. Wednesday was a long ride up Mt Lemmon – 2:35 to the top and then some extra riding on the flats to get to an even five hours, and then a 1 hour run off along the sandy wash. Thursday was an easier day of 90 minute of running in the hills, and then a 5k swim in the afternoon. Friday saw a 5 hour ride out on the Oracle Highway and then a short 5 mile run off. On Saturday a smaller group of us went up to ride the IMAZ course for two hours and then run an easy 4 miles in the afternoon. Sunday finished up with a long run of 2:30 and that ended a solid week of 25-28 hours for the campers.
Congratulations to everyone who attended! You certainly worked hard and you’ll benefit tremendously from the aerobic boost.
