D3 Athlete of the Month
This is a family of athletes! Kevin and Mike Duffy are the ones photographed here, but Karen and Brian are also impressive athletes. Karen manages an ALS 5K in Atlanta where they live. Brian is the spirit behind their momentum in the Blazeman Foundation. Having seen the broadcast of IM Kona 2005, he announced that he was going to support Jon Blais’ mission. Having met them through a common interest with the Blazeman Foundation, head D3 Coach, Mike Ricci, has watched this family grow as triathletes. D3 would like to recognize the Duffy’s as Athletes of the Month and thank them for making triathlon a family sport!
D3 Community
D3 Athletes, Eric and Ida Jonsen celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary racing the Honu ½ IM … That’s a celebration!
D3 Athlete, Brett Gilmore has a special interest that we’d like to bring to your attention. Enterprise Mentors International provides assistance to families in developing countries. They provide funding for and direction through small enterprise activities. Athletes Racing Against Poverty is the division of EMI that provides a means for individuals of any athletic ability to make a difference in this effort.
ARAP coordinates athletic events where 100% of profits go to EMI and their constituents in Peru, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and the Philippines. With their first 10K run and 5K walk/run on September 27, 2008 we know you’ll want to sign up and join in the fun. Read through the website to learn about the lives they’ve helped change. It’s impressive what one athlete can do! Congratulations for your commitment, Brett.
