Philosophy

Coaching is about communicating, knowing your athletes and them trusting you. Being a triathlete is about having balance, fun and loving what you are doing. You are spending a lot of your free time in a sport that asks for desire, determination, and discipline (D3 philosophy) and you are now looking for a coach. These things speak volumes about your commitment and again the need for balance and fun in your life.

Each person is different and has different strengths and weaknesses. It is my job to help you develop a plan that will assist you in achieving YOUR goals. This will be done through open communication, use of skills/technique training, testing in each discipline to see how you are progressing throughout the season, and making adjustments to your training plan to find what works best for you.

I believe that getting better in this sport is about time and patience, and with this comes experience. There is no substitute or fast forwarding to gain this experience. It takes time, trial and error, and a willingness to keep plugging away to get things right. With this experience also comes a willingness to try new training ideas and to continue to challenge yourself with new goals. It really is a new journey each season. As a coach I believe it is my role to help you to be patient, encourage you to try new things, and to keep triathlon positive and fun for you. Reaching your goals is the most important thing!

Coaching is a personal decision and one that I believe in as I used to be self-coached, talked with Erik Cagnina of D3 and have been working with him for three years now. Having Erik as a coach has helped me with continued growth in the sport, meeting my goals, balance, and perspective that I believe in. Meeting goals and having fun along the way is important!!

Personal Biography

I am a proud wife and mother of two active daughters and a husband who has coached high school girl’s soccer for 19 years (Go Indians!). I am an occupational therapist with a specialization in lymphedema treatment; working with women who have breast cancer. We are an active family who balances school, work, coaching, soccer, cross country, triathlon, etc with our family coming first. We help each other keep perspective on what should come first and we keep balance in our busy lives.

I love being active, being a triathlete and all the things that go along with this crazy sport... the training, racing, spending time with friends and meeting new ones is great. I have always been involved in athletics, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track and field since 7th grade. Running continued for me in college and was where I met one of the best friends I will ever have in my life. So... the friend side of triathlon is one of the things I have liked most.
